Butterfly
Tanya Stefanovich
£750
Impasto series.
In the center of the painting, a butterfly takes the spotlight. The butterfly’s delicate wings and intricate patterns are highlighted through the use of thick and layered brushstrokes, giving it a three-dimensional quality. The impasto technique brings out the textures of the butterfly’s wings and body, making it almost tangible to the viewer. The butterfly is perched on a violet flower, which provides both a focal point and a platform for the butterfly’s presence. The flower rendered with a combination of thick and thin paint, adding depth and dimension to the composition. The impasto brushwork on the flower’s petals allows the viewer to appreciate the tactile nature of the flower’s surface.
